Platelet-Rich Plasma (PRP)

what is Platelet-Rich Plasma ...

Platelet-Rich Plasma (PRP) for skin is a non-surgical cosmetic treatment that uses your own blood to rejuvenate skin by stimulating collagen and elastin, improving texture, reducing wrinkles, and healing skin damage, often called a “vampire facial”. A small blood sample is spun in a centrifuge to concentrate platelets, which are then injected or micro-needled back into targeted areas, activating the body’s natural repair processes for smoother, firmer, and younger-looking skin.

how does it work ...

Blood Draw: A small amount of blood is drawn from your arm, similar to a standard blood test.

Centrifugation: The blood is placed in a special device (centrifuge) that spins it at high speed, separating the platelets and plasma from other blood components.

Re-injection/Application: The concentrated PRP is then reintroduced into the skin through fine injections or microneedling, delivering growth factors to the treatment area.

  • Sagging or damaged skin
  • Acne scars and stretch marks

Immediately After Treatment

  • Redness and swelling: Very common, especially if PRP is injected (rather than microneedled).
  • Tenderness or tightness: The skin can feel sore or warm.
  • Pin-prick marks / mild bruising: Especially around eyes, mouth, or scalp.
  • Face looks “puffy” or flushed: This is a normal inflammatory response.
  • Most people do not return to social events the same day.

Day 1–2

  • Swelling reduces, but may still be noticeable.
  • Bruising may become more visible (yellow/green tones).
  • Skin can feel dry, sensitive, or tight.
  • Makeup is usually allowed after 24 hours.
  • Many people are comfortable being seen in public after 24–48 hours, depending on how their skin reacts.

Day 3–5

  • Redness mostly gone
  • Bruising fading
  • Skin texture may feel a little rough or dry
  • You can resume normal skincare (excluding actives initially)
  • This is when most people look “normal” again.

Day 5–7

  • Skin generally looks settled
  • Any remaining bruising is minimal or easily covered
  • Early glow or plumpness may start to appear
